Glucosamine sulfate is the most-studied form of glucosamine for joint health. Studies generally use around 1,500 mg/day glucosamine sulfate. Whether this particular product supplies that much is not something the label lets you check.

What the evidence says:

Glucosamine at this dose did no better than placebo in two large trials, and the American College of Rheumatology strongly recommends against it.
The "70%" cucumber result comes from a trial with no placebo group.
Willow bark at this dose helped slightly in one 2-week trial, but showed "no relevant efficacy" in a 6-week trial.

Ingredient Breakdown

The label lists, per 4 tablets: glucosamine sulfate 1,500 mg (from crab and/or shrimp shells), Boswellin Super boswellia 200 mg (at least 30% AKBA), white willow bark 480 mg (at least 50% salicin), Meriva turmeric phytosome 200 mg (at least 18% curcuminoids), Mojave yucca 200 mg, Q-actin cucumber extract 20 mg and boron 5.4 mg from 216 mg calcium fructoborate.

What the research shows:

Glucosamine. The GAIT trial (1,583 patients, 24 weeks) found 1,500 mg a day no better than placebo, and the 2-year LEGS trial found no pain benefit for glucosamine sulfate.
Q-actin. In 122 people with knee arthritis, 10 mg twice a day for 180 days cut WOMAC scores by 70% vs 33% for glucosamine-chondroitin. There was no placebo group, and the supplier provided the extract.
Willow bark. 240 mg of salicin a day lowered pain scores by 14%, vs a 2% rise on placebo, in a 2-week trial of 78 people. A 6-week trial in 127 patients found no significant difference from placebo.
Calcium fructoborate. 110 mg twice a day improved knee discomfort vs placebo, but only over 14 days in 60 people.
Boswellia. The letter describes a different extract, 5-Loxin, nine times. The label contains Boswellin Super, which has one small pilot trial (48 people) run by its maker.
Meriva and yucca. The Meriva studies were registries, not randomised trials. We found no human arthritis trial of yucca.

Side Effects & Safety

Shellfish: the glucosamine comes from crab and/or shrimp shells.
Bleeding: glucosamine and chondroitin use has been "associated with an increased risk of bleeding in people who are taking the anticoagulant warfarin" (NCCIH).
Liver: "Highly bioavailable formulations of curcumin ... may harm your liver" (NCCIH). Meriva is designed to be better absorbed.

The letter says "All without side effects". There is no clinical study on Advanced Joint Support itself.
